Mr. King's Heavy Equipment students are on a job site this week, putting their knowledge and skills to work! There was an erosion problem on the property, and the class was tasked with planning the best solution to correct and control water runoff on the slope. Students visited the site a couple of times before breaking ground to measure and mark the area, plan the work needed, and decide which tools, equipment, and products were necessary. The last 7 or 8 class periods have been spent running equipment and executing the plan! #tongienation #usd464

In Mr. Faulkner's second hour, students have been working on argumentative writing, debating whether a hot dog is a sandwich, which season is the best, and who would win in a fight versus a bear and a gorilla! #tongienation #usd464 **Post by Sawyer Frese '25**

Mrs. McCoy's Chemistry class or Potions class at Hogwarts? Hard to tell this week! Between bubbling potions and mysterious slime, we're 90% sure we spotted a wand (or maybe that was just a pipette). Either way, science magic was definitely in the air!! #tongienation #usd464

Then, they worked collaboratively on annotating diary entries to determine who the information was about (a sneaky way to highlight grammar!). #tongienation #usd464

The boys golf season is now about halfway through, and tournaments are well underway. Here is a recap of the season so far:
1st Tournament – Bonner Springs Invitational:
The team opened the season at Sunflower Hills, showing strong potential with a team score of 345. Lachlan McRae led the way with a 78, earning 3rd place as an individual. The team finished 6th overall but learned valuable lessons about the importance of signing the correct scorecard and playing the proper ball. Continued improvement and focus will be key.
2nd Tournament – Firekeeper (Hosted by Royal Valley):
At one of Kansas’ finest courses, the team performed well, finishing 3rd with a score of 351. Luke McRae led with an 84, while Gavin Reischman and Lachlan McRae contributed solid rounds of 87. Coach Joe provided excellent guidance throughout. The team continues to build on its progress.
3rd Tournament – Oakwood (Hosted by Mill Valley):
Competing in a primarily 5A and 6A field, the team placed 11th with a score of 356. Zac Fisher led the team with an 83. The boys recognize the need for continued effort and development to stay competitive at this level.
4th Tournament – Wamego Country Club:
The team secured 3rd place, trailing only Towanda Circle and Wamego—two strong contenders likely to qualify for state. Luke McRae once again led with an 85, followed by Gavin Reischman (89) and Zac Fisher (87). The team is motivated to improve and close the gap on top-tier programs.
Junior Varsity – Piper Tournament:
The JV squad also competed recently, with Cameron Wensel leading the way with a 93.
The team will return to action on Monday at tournaments in Manhattan and Bonner Springs. Thanks to everyone for the continued support and encouragement throughout the season!
