The boys bracket has been updated following Round 2 of the 68th Annual Tonganoxie Basketball Invitational.

🔵 THS Boys will now play at 4:30 p.m. (time change from 3:00 p.m.) in the Aux Gym.
🔴 THS Girls are competing in the semifinals at 12:30 p.m.

🔵 THS Boys kick off tournament play at 9:00 a.m.
🔴 THS Girls take the floor at 12:00 p.m.

📍 Games will be played in both gyms throughout the day.

Due to weather conditions, the schedule for the 68th Annual Tonganoxie Basketball Tournament has been adjusted. There will be no games played on Saturday.

The first round will be played tonight, with Rounds 2 and 3 played tomorrow (Friday) in both gyms. Friday games will begin at 9:00 a.m., with game times at 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30.

Please note that school will still be in session on Friday. Basketball parking will be on the south side of Chieftain Arena.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we adjust for the weather.

On January 10th, 2026 THS Science Olympiad competed at Pembroke Hill. Brooke Price and Sarah Meyer placed 5th in Bungee Jump!

This past week, students in Profe McQueen's Spanish 1 classes began their first whole-class novel unit, "El Ratón Pablito". They used sequencing cards to predict the first chapter of the book, became familiar with new vocabulary, watched the chapter video, and read the first chapter in pairs and small groups. As they continue reading the novel, their goal is to retell the stories by speaking and writing in Spanish.

Taylor Allen has completed all of her requirements for her high school diploma in the Success Center. However, she will be attending Washburn Tech now, so her cap and gown pictures will have to come later! Congratulations, Taylor, we are very proud of you!

Tonganoxie Troupe #378 has qualified for NATIONALS!
Juniors, Katherine Carter and Chaynee Howell attended the Kansas Thespian Festival this past weekend in Wichita where they both earned Superiors in their solo musical events landing them the opportunity to compete at our national event, the International Thespian Festival!

Our January Transformative Teacher is Ms. Thierolf! Ms. McVey chose Ms. Thierolf because of the dynamic and engaging classroom environment she creates. Not only does Ms. Thierolf's classroom have a fun learning environment, she makes it inclusive for all learners. Ms. Thierolf works hard to make her curriculum equally accessible to students of all ability levels. Congratulations on this recognition Ms. Thierolf!

Congratulations to Kaysi Overdick on being named a Horizon Award winner for Outstanding First-Year Teacher in the State of Kansas!

The Horizon Award is a program developed by the Kansas State Department of Education that honors and recognizes exemplary first-year teachers who distinguish themselves as outstanding educators. The program is a regional competition with four regions corresponding to Kansas’ U.S. Congressional districts. From each region, four elementary and four secondary teachers may be selected, for a possible total of 32 Horizon Award recipients statewide.

We are extremely proud of Ms. Overdick and the impact she is making in USD 464!
