The Lady Chieftains basketball team had a busy summer. Varsity played 20 games, going 14-6 and showing a lot of improvement and growth this offseason. JV/Freshmen played 9 games, going 4-5 this summer. A group of 17 students went to Branson, Missouri to participate in a team camp, playing teams from Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The trip was more than basketball, as the teams went to Silver Dollar City and Dolly Parton Stampede and spent a lot of quality time together. This group is setting a solid foundation of hard work, commitment, and determination this summer that will impact the years to come. Many of these students have been in the gym 3-4 days a week working on their individual skills. As a group, the team has taken over 25,000 shots on our new shooting machines (thank you to the booster club for their help getting those). We would like to give a special shout out to some kids who have really been putting in the extra hours in the gym that often go unseen or not celebrated.
🏀 Jaela Herrera, Sr, has taken 7,835 shots this summer on the shooting machine and has been a constant leader in the gym with her efforts in workouts.
🏀 Kalea Baldock, Sr, has taken 6,020 shots this summer and is a true leader on and off the court.
🏀 Addy Schooler, Jr, has taken 4,630 shots this summer and is constantly looking for more ways to improve.
🏀 Adlen Johnson has taken 4,325 shots this summer and is poised for a breakout season.
Many more students have shown great improvement and commitment this summer. The best part of being a coach is seeing the fire in a student's eyes when they become excited to work and improve. We are looking forward to the school year, our season, and the other sports season these student athletes compete in. Go Chieftains!
