Michael Ellifrits and his classmates read Sharon Draper’s "Out of My Mind" together—a captivating first installment in a trilogy. The story follows Melody Brooks, a sixth grader with cerebral palsy, as she faces the challenges of middle school as a nonverbal wheelchair user. Inspired by Melody’s journey, Michael went on to read the entire series on his own. He loved it so much that he decided to write to Sharon Draper—and to his delight, she wrote back! #tongienation #usd464
