Michael Ellifrits and his classmates read Sharon Draper’s "Out of My Mind" together—a captivating first installment in a trilogy. The story follows Melody Brooks, a sixth grader with cerebral palsy, as she faces the challenges of middle school as a nonverbal wheelchair user. Inspired by Melody’s journey, Michael went on to read the entire series on his own.
