Congrats to all three Tonganoxie High School choirs for earning "I" (Outstanding) ratings at KSHSAA's State Large Ensemble Festival in Atchison yesterday! - Chieftain Singers - Treble Choir - Tenor/Bass Choir When Mr. Gifford began teaching in Tonganoxie, the Chieftain Singers competed as a small ensemble at the 2007 & 2008 Regional Solo & Small Ensemble Festivals. His goal was to grow the program and compete at KSHSAA’s State Large Group Festival every year. In 2009, the Chieftain Singers competed as a large ensemble at host site Gardner-Edgerton High School and received a “II” rating. Since then, they have reeled off 14 straight “I” ratings (no festival in 2020). Including the Chieftain Singers, the Treble Choir, and the Tenor/Bass Choir, Tonganoxie Vocal Music has earned 32 Large Ensemble State “one” ratings from 2010 to 2024!!! Well done and congrats to our Chieftain Singers, Treble Choir, Tenor/Bass Choir, Mrs. Day, and Mr. Gifford! #tongienation #usd464

Having experienced the tragedies of fatalities and seriously injured peers and community members in accidents, THS FCCLA wanted to remind students that making bad decisions in vehicles by being impaired and/or distracted can change a life in an instant. With the help of local, county and state agencies, as well as volunteers from THS and the SADD chapter, students simulated a drunk and distracted accident scenario. Students also attended a Think First assembly and saw first-hand the kinds of mental and physical issues people face due to accidents such as these. Thank you to everyone for helping educate our students to help keep them safe. #tongienation #usd464 #fccla #thinkfirst

If you heard barking coming from the chemistry room today, don't worry, that was just hydrogen gas! Mrs. McCoy's class worked on determining types of chemical reactions & how to experimentally determine the identity of unknown gasses in them. 🧪🧪🧪 #tongienation #usd464
