The THS JV boys golf team had a great week. They went to two tournaments and recorded one win and one second place. The boys first headed to Sunflower Hills to compete in an 18 hole tourney on Monday, battling the wind and taking first place.  William Dohrn had a great day, taking 2nd as an individual with 86 and leading the way for the team's 1st place finish.  Also having a solid day was Carson Heffel with a score of 90.  Other team members supporting the win were Owen Heffel, Grant Edwards, Mark Geiger, and Weston Haas, showing a glimpse of what the future will look like for the program. The boys returned to action on Wednesday at Burning Tree, where they got to play a fun scramble format.  Two three-man teams attended, with Team Heffel squared and Dohrn taking 2nd with a salty -2 score for the nine holes.  These boys will be back in action on Tuesday at Osawatomie.  Thank you for your support! #tongienation #usd464

THS varsity boys golf headed out to Manhattan last week to play Manhattan Country Club.  The course was in great shape and the rules were like regionals.  Led by Gavin Reischman with an 87 and Lachlan McRae with an 89, the boys finished 7th overall in a field that was heavy with 5A and 6A teams.  The team will next be in action at Sycamore Ridge Golf Course for League on Thursday.  Thanks again for all the support! #tongienation #usd464

Mr. King's Heavy Equipment students are on a job site this week, putting their knowledge and skills to work! There was an erosion problem on the property, and the class was tasked with planning the best solution to correct and control water runoff on the slope. Students visited the site a couple of times before breaking ground to measure and mark the area, plan the work needed, and decide which tools, equipment, and products were necessary. The last 7 or 8 class periods have been spent running equipment and executing the plan! #tongienation #usd464

Mrs. McCoy's Chemistry class or Potions class at Hogwarts? Hard to tell this week! Between bubbling potions and mysterious slime, we're 90% sure we spotted a wand (or maybe that was just a pipette). Either way, science magic was definitely in the air!! #tongienation #usd464

Students in Profe McQueen's Spanish I classes continue working through the "Billy la Bufanda" unit with vocabulary and storyline details. After sequencing the events from the video, students completed a color glyph about what activities they prefer in various Spanish-speaking countries. Then, they worked collaboratively on annotating diary entries to determine who the information was about (a sneaky way to highlight grammar!). #tongienation #usd464
