Dear Tonganoxie Community,
On behalf of the entire Board of Education, I am excited to share that Dr. Shawn Poyser has been selected as the next Superintendent of Tonganoxie Schools.
This decision followed a thoughtful, thorough, and community-centered search process where we intentionally sought feedback from our families, staff and community members. Your perspectives helped shape the priorities that guided our search.
Dr. Poyser emerged as a leader who not only brings strong experience and vision, but who also demonstrated a genuine ability to connect with people and engage the community in meaningful ways. We are particularly excited about Dr. Poyser’s commitment to:
● Transparency and open communication
● Academic excellence and continuous improvement
● Fiscal responsibility and responsible use of district resources
● Visibility and community focus
While Dr. Poyser does not officially begin his duties until July 1, I am pleased to share several upcoming opportunities for our community to begin meeting and welcoming Dr. Poyser:
● This evening, Jan. 22, Dr. Poyser will join us at the Tonganoxie Invitational Basketball Tournament and community soup supper. He’ll be present throughout the evening and will be introduced between the girls and boys games, around 7:00-7:15 p.m.
● On Feb. 16, he will be formally introduced to faculty and staff during our professional development day.
● We are also planning an additional opportunity the evening of Feb. 16 for the broader community to meet Dr. Poyser. We will share more details once they have been finalized.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Shawn Poyser to the Tonganoxie community. We are enthusiastic about the leadership he will provide and look forward to this next chapter together.
