After 46 years in public education, USD 464 Superintendent Loren Feldkamp has announced his retirement at the end of the 2025–2026 school year.
A 1974 graduate of B&B-Baileyville High School, Mr. Feldkamp earned his Bachelor of Science degree in history and his master’s degree in administration from Kansas State University (Go Cats!). He began his career at his high school alma mater, teaching American history, government, and world history, where he also coached varsity football and basketball. Over the years, he served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and superintendent across several Kansas school districts, including B&B-Baileyville, Onaga, Udall, Valley Falls, and Tonganoxie, where he has served as superintendent since 2018. His leadership journey reflects a lifelong commitment to students, staff, and the communities he has served.
During his time at USD 464, Mr. Feldkamp has been dedicated to creating opportunities for students, supporting staff, and strengthening connections with our community. His leadership has helped guide the district through challenges and celebrate successes, always with students at the center, including the 2019 Bond issue and the extensive construction and improvements projects that followed. He has also been a respected voice statewide, serving on the KSHSAA Appeals Board, Executive Board, and Board of Directors, as well as the Region 1 KSSA Council of Superintendents. Recognized as the Kansas “Outstanding Young Educator of the Year” in 1990 and a three-time Kansas Girls Basketball Coach of the Year, Mr. Feldkamp has been nominated for Kansas Superintendent of the Year six times.
Reflecting on his career, Mr. Feldkamp shared, “It has been an honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Tonganoxie. Education has given me a lifetime of purpose and professional fulfillment, and I am grateful for the relationships built along the way. Nancy and I look forward to this next chapter, spending more time with our children and grandchildren while cheering on the continued success of USD 464.”
Mr. Feldkamp and his wife Nancy have been married for 47 years and are the proud parents of Scott, Janine (Ryan), and Matthew, as well as grandparents to Tatum, Kendal, and Maggie.
The Board of Education extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Feldkamp for his dedication, leadership, and vision. His impact on Tonganoxie Schools will continue to be felt for years to come, and his legacy of service to Kansas education is truly inspiring. We are grateful for the positive impact he has made on our schools and community and wish him the very best in retirement.
As we look ahead, the Board of Education is committed to a thorough and fair search process to select the next superintendent to carry on the values and mission of Tonganoxie USD 464 and will share more information with the community as it becomes available.
