TMS CBR participated in National Community Service day by walking around Tonganoxie and picking up trash!

Breaking news from Kansas FFA! Lydia Bartlett and Abigail Marah have broke finals! Their Agriscience Research project has been named one of the top three in the state! Wish them luck as they travel to Manhattan to find out the final results! Congratulations ladies!

These middle school FFA members were recognized at the FFA banquet for meeting the qualifications for their FFA Discovery Degree! This is the first degree that can be earned by an FFA member. This group of 8th graders are the first to have this opportunity! Congratulations to all who received the degree! We wrapped up our history club trip yesterday. Forty-nine 8th graders and eleven sponsors visited various historic and fun sites in Arkansas and Oklahoma. The kids represented TMS well, had fun, and learned some things about our country’s history along the way.

📚✨ Principal for a Day—Student Edition! ✨📚
Our amazing librarian recently supported the Education Foundation—and ended up winning a very exciting prize: Principal for a Day!
But instead of keeping the spotlight, she decided to share the experience with our students by raffling it off… and the lucky winners are Sam and Isra! 🎉
These two had the chance to step into the shoes of a principal for the day—helping lead, make decisions, and see what it’s like behind the scenes. From important “principal duties” to a whole lot of fun, it was a day they won’t forget!
📸 Check out the photos to see our principals in action!

6th graders are having fun showing what they know about the ancient civilizations they will see at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art on Friday.

Our Special Olympic Athletes and their Partners from Tonganoxie Middle School participated in a Unified Soccer Match at Bonner Springs High School and a Unified Soccer Tournament in Olathe. Unified Sports is an exciting opportunity that joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It is inspired by a simple principle that training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

The 6th graders had a blast getting creative during library time on Monday! We made colorful bookmarks using a super fun (and slightly messy) technique—blowing bubbles with dish soap and water, adding drops of food coloring, and then popping the bubbles right onto the paper. Each bookmark turned out totally unique with bright, swirly designs! A lot of students headed home with a little extra color on their hands—and even their faces! 😂 It was definitely a fun, hands-on way to mix creativity with a bit of science!

The Middle School had an awesome surprise last week! Our TAG kids were pumped up to hear that they had made it into the Top 20 of the "Battle of the Brains" engineering competition, sponsored by Burns and McDonnell. This is a HUGE accomplishment, and we are so proud of this group! Finalists head to Union Station in February to hear the final results.

The top spellers in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade competed to determine who would represent TMS at the Leavenworth County Spelling Bee on February 6th. Every speller did an amazing job!
