All students living within district boundaries and whose home address is 2.5 miles or more from the school they attend, can receive free bus transportation. Certain students living within our Pay to Ride area may receive bus transportation 1) if the appropriate route has space on the bus, and 2) if Pay to Ride fees are paid in advance. If you are unsure as to whether you live within the Pay to Ride area, please contact Jill Kietzmann at the District Administrative Center, 913-416-1400, or

Unfortunately, there are certain residential areas where no transportation is offered. They are outlined on the Transportation Map.

Transporting Musical Instruments on Buses

Large objects, such as musical instruments, that will not fit on the student's lap or under the seat, or large science projects (anything larger than a backpack) cannot be transported on a school bus. These run the risk of becoming projectiles in the event of an accident and must be brought to and from school another way.
