Tonganoxie Middle School students Adlen Johnson and Lauren Breuer have been hard at work on their FCCLA project. This year, Adlen and Lauren are competing in the STAR Event "National Programs in Action." They focused on Stand Up, a national program that focuses on assessing the needs of the community, educating others, and advocating for changes. Adlen and Lauren used Stand Up to teach students about the importance of anti-bullying by creating a lesson about being a buddy instead of a bully. They then challenged each warrior time class to create their own PSA about anti-bullying. Each grade level was given a different topic: 6th grade talked about exclusion, 7th grade talked about cyberbullying, and 8th grade talked about verbal and physical bullying. There were a lot of great submissions!

The winners of the anti-bullying PSA contest are:

6th grade: Mrs. Bartels’ warrior time

7th grade: Mrs. Carlton’s warrior time

8th grade: Mrs. Harrell’s warrior time

Overall: Mr. Reid’s warrior time

Congratulations to the winners! Be sure to check out their videos!
