Last week, THS athletic trainer Mark Padfield presented testimony on behalf of the Kansas Athletic Trainers' Society in support of Senate Bill 82. SB82 is a proposed update to the 2011 bill successfully presented by KATS that requires an MD/DO release post-concussion and lays out what must occur if signs and symptoms are observed during competition. This update would protect students by "requiring schools to establish policies and concussion management teams to prevent and manage concussions within school."
