This year's Frontier League Art Show & Competition was held on May 7th at Ottawa High School. In addition to displaying 24 pieces of student work in the competition, there were two on-site competitions. THS won first prize in the chalk mural event and second prize in the clay event, winning second prize in the overall competition!
The chalk competition required students to draw two prompts out of a bag: one was a mythological creature and one was an environmental condition. THS students drew the prompts of mermaid & acid rain! The team had under 3 hours to combine these two prompts and create a mural. The chalk team was comprised of Zoey Sanders, Vic Crable, Josh Duvall, Gabby Garza & Zailee Graham.
The clay team had to draw three prompts for head, torso, & legs and combine them to make a hybrid creature. Tonganoxie students drew female head, penguin torso, and centipede legs! The team had to use an entire 25 pound bag of clay and finish in under 3 hours. Clay team members were Hadley Perona, Ava Bond, Hannah Turner, Charlotte Absher & Ellie Gillet.
Congrats to these talented artists!
