The Chieftain Swingers Jazz Ensemble had the honor of being invited by the Department of Commerce to perform at the prestigious Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Awards in Topeka, Kansas. The event took place on Friday, September 29th, at the Town Center Hotel and featured the Governor and Lt. Governor of Kansas as guest speakers.

Our talented students had an unforgettable experience, both on stage and off. They not only delivered an exceptional performance but also had the privilege of meeting Lt. Governor David Toland. Lt. Governor Toland was an alto saxophonist in the Iola High School band during his youth. Furthermore, our students had the opportunity to delve into the world of entrepreneurship in business, gaining valuable insights and knowledge.

Congratulations to Mr. Van and his remarkable jazz band students for their outstanding performance and representing our school with distinction at this noteworthy event!
