five students stand behind a table holding their clay statue

On May 3rd, Tonganoxie High School hosted the annual Frontier League Art Competition. In addition to displays of artwork created by students throughout the school year, there were two on-site competitions. One of these was a clay competition: students had three hours and one 25-pound bag of clay to create a sculpture addressing a specific challenge/prompt. This year's challenge was to design & create a model for a monument commemorating the subject of the student's choice. The THS team chose to create a monument commemorating extinct animals; their creation won first place. Clay competition team members included Hadley Perona, Kali Brown, Sydney Shepherd, Julianna Johnson & Gabe Altenhofen.

The THS chalk art team earned second place in the chalk art competition. Chalk art team members were Emory Sittner, Abby Vick, Keira Beverly, Katie Denholm, and Josey Bartlett. THS Art placed second overall in the competition.
