Mr. Kris Henry enters his third year as the Assistant Principal at Tonganoxie Elementary School. Kris has 24 years of teaching experience. He is very excited to be part of the Administrative Team in Tonganoxie.
Mr. Henry began his teaching career in 1995 as an elementary physical education teacher for USD 428 in Great Bend, Kansas. Mr. Henry later taught high school weightlifting and was employed by the Great Bend schools until 2003. In 2002 Mr. Henry was head football coach at Claflin High School. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Henry was the Athletic Director, Weightlifting Coordinator and head football coach for Larned High School in Larned, Kansas. From 2006 to 2018, Mr. Henry was an athletic development instructor, football coach, and golf coach at Gardner Edgerton High School in Gardner, Kansas.
Mr. Henry grew up in the town of Prague, Oklahoma, graduating from Prague High School in 1989. In 1994 Mr. Henry graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a BS in Health/Physical Education. In 2000 Mr. Henry received his Masters degree from Fort Hays State University in Educational Administration.
Mr. Henry was married on August 8, 1998, to Christy Henry. Kris' wife, Christy, is a school psychologist with the Gardner Edgerton school district. In her spare time she enjoys taking walks with Woody (4 year old yellow lab), reading, cooking, and watching her children’s activities. Kris and Christy have two children - a son, Tyler, who is 21 years old and a daughter, Marly, who is 18 years old. Tyler is a Junior at Pittsburg State where he attends on a baseball scholarship and is majoring in nursing. Marly is a Freshman at Pittsburg State and is also majoring in nursing. Mr. Henry enjoys watching Tyler's baseball team compete. In his spare time he likes to play golf, go camping, fish, hunt waterfowl and spend time with his family.
Mr. Henry is looking forward to the start of school and is expecting great things to happen this year at TES.
